Welcome to Salt Cay
Salt Cay is a small inhabited island in the southeast Turks and Caicos, with a total landmass of 2.6 square miles (6.7 sq km). Much of the cay consists of marine ponds and low-elevation dry tropical brush lands. Today, the island's economy is primarily driven by tourism and the scuba diving industry. It is particularly popular during the Humpback Whale migration from January to April each year, when jumping whales can even be seen from the shoreline as they travel to their birthing grounds south of the island.
Salt Cay is the second largest island in the Turks Islands group, with Grand Turk being the largest. Its name is derived from the island’s long history of sea salt production.
